Exciting new David & Murdo anniversary project!

So, I have some news! This came out in my latest newsletter, but I wanted to share it here too.

I’m embarking on an exciting new project which is in very new territory for me: a special edition print book.

This year, it’s ten years since the last book in the David & Murdo trilogy, Enlightened, first came out. To mark the occasion, I’m looking at publishing a 10th anniversary special print edition of the whole trilogy (Provoked, Beguiled and Enlightened) to feature specially commissioned artwork from an amazing artist.

There’s lots of potential options with this sort of project: the artwork itself, the format of the book, potential extras, bonus material etc. I have some ideas, but I would really love to hear what readers think because, ultimately, I want to create something David & Murdo fans would love to have on their bookshelves.

So, if you are someone this appeals to, please either leave a comment below, or email me: author@joannachambers.com. I would love, love, LOVE to hear your thoughts. And if you don’t have anything in particular to say but just want to register interest, that’s good too.

  1. Joanna, (if I may?) your books are just beyond wonderful; and for me, the David and Murdo trilogy is my absolute favourite (I have highlighted passages, I have bookmarked pages and pages in all the 3 books even the extras…). I have loved the extended extras too, The Bequest brought tears to my eyes!
Soooo, in short I would be DELIGHTED to have a hard copy to grace my bookshelves. Your work is giving…as they say these days…

  2. Yes!! I have recently started a hard copy book collection of all my favorites. I would be so happy to put this on the shelf!

  3. This is excellent news. I love collecting special editions. My one request is that, if there is any new bonus material, it could also be released online. I have some medical issues that make reading print difficult. I love my book collection, but I usually read digitally.

  4. I wish the collection was filmed as a mini-series on Netflix or Prime 🤞
But your news is thrilling. A new short story or novella exclusive to this project would be welcome.

  5. Heya 😁
Wot a spectacular idea! Having the entire odyssey in a single volume is indeed enticing. Maybe include artwork, drawings, sketches, whatevs, of key events, or copy of a letter, stuff like that. It becomes almost like a “lifelong” journal or something with oh so enjoyable ephemera. 😀

  6. I love love love this series and am very excited to hear this news. I was intrigued by the fashion on the cover of Provoked and was seduced by your attention to historical detail in the series. It just felt like such an immersive experience, thank you for that. I can still see Murdo in his evening slippers chasing after David after the assembly. I am very interested in this 10th anniversary edition publication and whatever else you decide. I would love to see this become a miniseries. But either way just thanks for your writing it’s terrific

    1. I’m excited to hear that there is a chance of an anniversary edition. I continually reread the books as your writing is a work of art. Please do go forwardne with this venture.

  7. I would love signed hardbacks – HOWEVER, laughably, I just adore the current cover photos of the MCs, so any art created would have a hard time being more compelling than what is already available? [I especially love David – the current photo is just him to a T for me.] For other special editions (I have gotten a few from Rainbow Crate) the reason I buy them is (a) Better covers / spine art / side page art / inside art (b) Book is hardback (c) new material and (d) ** signed **. Although I would not pay extra for a paperback with new art, so it has to be hardback. Nearly everything I read now is electronic, but do sometimes buy new paperbacks simply for the new material (IE some of the new Alexis Hall stuff) [Note, for the All For The Game special editions Rainbow Crate did a 3 book set, which was really neat.]

I can’t wait to share the new art, Julie, it’s fabulous. Hopefully you will find it as compelling as I do <3

Unfortunately, 2023 and 2024 brought some unexpected stuff that slowed me down quite on the writing front, however, I’m almost finished the first draft of George’s book and hoping to get it out early 2025
