I have waited for some time to figure out what to say about your werewolf series, and your newsletter prompted me to at least say or do something, because I need to get it off my chest.
I am not appreciative on how the series was rolled out. I was not happy at all.
The first book should have been released in early fall, so that for the month of October we readers felt a kinship with it. The second book should have been released at Christmas time, so families or just us readers can get it as a gift. I would have waited for 2020 if the books were released this way. I personally was let down that I could not allow myself to finish nor purchase both books. I am a Halloween geek with an affinity for werewolves, misunderstood monsters. I hate the December holidays, but your book would have been a balm for my soul while dealing with family.
I know that writers have deadlines, blocks, and real world problems like we all do. If this is what caused the delay or misjudging releases, then I am sorry if this is the case. My intention for writing to you about this is not to be mean-spirited. This next part is hard to write b/c I don’t like to share: you are one of very, VERY few people who I admire.
I at least hope that werewolf series will be collected and ready for purchase for the Fall 2020. If not, that is okay. I have all of your other books. And those are delightfully re-read by me! Those stories are always welcomed friends.

Hi Richard – thank you for the kind words about my books which are greatly appreciated.
When it comes to releasing new books (other than stories written specifically for a particular holiday, e.g. Christmas stories) the truth is, I don’t really apply much thought to the dates. I’m not a full time writer – I do it after my day job and at weekends where time allows – so my writing time is limited and, truthfully, I’m also quite a slow compared to many other authors. As a result, I’m usually impatient to release my latest book as soon as it is ready to go, as I’m worried readers will forget me given how infrequently I release new titles.
I was hoping the werewolf books would come out earlier than they actually did, and if anything I said here or on social media created an expectation that failed to materialise for you, I’m sorry about that. However, both books are out now (though I don’t have any plans to release them in any new formats e.g. in a single volume or as audiobooks). I’m now trying to focus on writing the next book which is another one in the Enlightenment series, focusing on two new characters.
